The full frame Sony Venice cinema camera is a perfect match for the fast, compact and iconic M 0.8 lenses. Originally designed for full frame coverage, the Leitz M 0.8 lenses take full advantage of the Venice sensor in a way that highlights all the characteristics that make these lenses unique in the world of motion picture optics.

Unlike most cinema lenses, the Leitz M 0.8 lenses are uncorrected for interesting characteristics like field curvature, edge fall off, and flare control. The characteristics of the lenses are much more similar to those of what are often called vintage cinema lenses. These effects are most noticeable toward the edges of the image circle, which pairs beautifully with the Venice sensor.

 The Leitz Sony Venice M-Mount requires no camera modification with the exception of replacing the existing PL mount via the 6 screws. Camera firmware version 2 enabling the use of E mount lenses is required and is available.

LENS COMPATIBILITY

The Leitz M MOUNT is designed specifically to work with the Leitz M 0.8 lenses from Ernst Leitz WetzlarGmbH.

Other M Mount lenses vary as to how far the rear elements extend beyond the mount and even with the camera modification some other
lenses may extend too far and damage the OLPF of the camera as well as the lens being used.
While other M Mount lenses may be usable with this mount, the responsibility for testing and confirming usability rests solely on the
user and caution is advised. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar GmbH is not responsible for the use of any M Mount lenses from any manufacturer outside of the
Leitz M 0.8 lens series.
